On the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit’s 79th birthday anniversary, on 12 August 2011, the Royal Thai Embassy’s Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei in coordination with Thai Association in Brunei held a ceremony to offer salute and blessing for the Queen. Mr. Apichart Phetcharatana, Thailand’s Ambassador to Brunei, presided over the ceremony which was held at the Royal Thai Embassy’s building. Also featuring at the ceremony were the Royal Thai Embassy’s officials and staffs, Mrs. Nongnuth Phetcharatan (Thailand’s Ambassador to Vienna), Mr. James Korn (Borneo Bulletin’s Journalist) and his family’s members, Mr. Jonh (English architect), and other Thais and foreigners.

 

On this occasion, Mr. Apichart invited people to sign her Majesty the Queen’s well-wishing book at the Royal Thai Embassy in Brunei or visit the Embassy’s website to offer blessing for the Queen, noting that the site will be opened throughout the month.

 

Furthermore, Mr. Apichart said on 4 September 2011, the Embassy would like to invite Thai workers and entrepreneurs to participate in a social sport competition, to be held at the Embassy’s sport venue. The competition will feature an annual sepak takraw competition, petanque competition, and other sport contests. With aim to improve workers’ quality of life, at the event, there will also be legal counseling service. Guide book on “living in Brunei” (published by Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei) will be distributed to attendance, food and beverage will also be available at the event, which is scheduled to start from 8 am.  For those who want to benter the competition, submit an application at the Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei or phone 265-3517 before 20 August 2011.
