Thai government-public sectors and labour volunteer network agree to hold a fundraising petanque tournament in Brunei to help the victims of floods and landslides in several southern Thai provinces. Charity money after tax deduction will be given to the flood victims. The event is part of efforts to show solidarity and love among people of Thailand and Brunei with the victims of the Thai south disasters. It also aims to encourage Thai people involvement in sports, which is not only good for their health, but also helps them develop discipline, learn to be a good sport, and keep away from drugs-alcohols-vices.
Mr. Somsak Chuichoonprasert (Khun Chor), a current coach of Brunei national petanque team, who has made his name known from leading Brunei national petanque team win several Borneo petanque competitions, along with the Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei, the Royal Thai Embassy, and Thai people association will hold a charity petanque tournament on Wednesday 13 April, the Thai traditional New Year Day; starting at 1pm. Winner will receive an award trophy from the Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei, the Royal Thai Embassy, and Thai people association.
Application can be made from today onward or at the Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei’s petanque field, the Royal Thai Embassy on the event. Entry fee for the competition is BRD$30 for a team of 3 people and BRD$10 for an individual or sponsoring a team for BRD$30. The Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei would like to invite public to come and watch the event at the motioned time.
