Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia holds sport competition on Labour Day

Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia held a “Labour Reconciliation” futsal competition at Sport Planet the Ultimate Experience in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to mark Thailand’s Labour Day on May 1, 2013. It was funded by Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre. Some 21 teams of Thai people and workers took part in the competition.

 

         

Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia held a “Labour Reconciliation” futsal competition at Sport Planet the Ultimate Experience in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to mark Thailand’s Labour Day on May 1, 2013. It was funded by Southern Border Provinces Administration Centre. Some 21 teams of Thai people and workers took part in the competition.

 

The sport event was aimed to promote public awareness of the importance of workers, who are the important driving force of a country’s social and economic development, as well as to boost morale of workers and labourers and to foster good relations among employers, workers and government officials.

 

H.E. Mr. Krit Kraichitti, Thai Ambassador to Malaysia, presided over the opening of the sport event. It was also sponsored by Military Attache, Naval Attache, Air Attache and chief of office of Thai team.

 

The futsal competition was held from 5 am to 11 am. It was attended by some 200 athletes, supporters and audiences. There was also a special match between a team of Thai officials from Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia and a team of Malaysian “Tom Yum” restaurant operators and representatives from Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group and other companies for entertainment and to foster good relations among government officials and Thai people community in Malaysia.

 

Participating Thai workers were very satisfied with the activity and gave their ideas about the appropriateness, timing and format of the event for improvement. Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia pledged to hold such a sport event with more variety next year. It plans to include local sports and music performances and allows more public participation in an event next year.
