Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia visited youths and Thai females in Perlindungan Wanita.

           On 23 April 2010, Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur leaded by Mr. Kamthorn Sittichot, Thai Ambassador and the group of officials consisting of Minister Counsellor (Police Liaison) and Miss Pangmas Wichiensin, Labour Counsellor and the consul  paid a visit to Thai youths and female workers at Perlindungan Wanita , Kuala Lumpur.
           There were totally 30 Thais consisting of;
                (1) 3 youths which 2 are male with 16 year of age. They were arrested on a charge of working on fishing boat with unqualified age, regulated by law (21-45 years old) and 1 female aged 15 years old.
                (2) 27 Thai females. As from the primary investigation, 11 of them were not Thai (no passport obtained). They were deceived to work in restaurant by illicit broker. After they arrived in Malaysia, they were detained in rental room and were forced to prostitute. Consequently, they were arrested by the police and detained for being a witness for victim of human trafficking.
           Currently, all of them are waiting to give testimony at the court. However, Royal Thai Embassy will expedite relevant officials to execute the home return process as soon as possible. In additions, he also asked for coordination from Perlindungan Wanita to inform the exact date and time of giving a testimony to Royal Thai Embassy in order to help facilitate in providing translators.
           Office of Labour Affairs in Malaysia found that Thai females were deceived to work in restaurant and forced to prostitute. Hence, information of such human trafficking behavior should be publicly informed to Thai workers in order to prevent being deceived and being a victim of human trafficking.
