Office of Labour Affairs in reported news “ Taiwan lessen hiring ratio for foreign workers.

Ministry of Economy of Taiwan has been considering the situation of labour shortage in Taiwan industrial sector, even though Taiwan has been trying to increase wage rate to be in accordance with market demand but it could not sufficiently supply workers into the system. Hence, Taiwan has considered adjusting hiring ratio for foreign workers and local workers to be40% which will be further discussed with Ministry of Economy in April 2014.

 

Officers of Department of Industry revealed that recently IT industry and Electronic industry in Taiwan have been facing labour shortage so that Ministry of Economy has been considering to increase employment ratio for foreign workers from 35% of local employment to be 40% subject to the condition that employer shall recruit local workers based on average salary of such positions. Unless the employer could find labours, they would be allowed to hire foreign workers at highest ratio in order to prevent the claim for labour shortage for being able to hire foreign workers to save cost.
