Office of Labour Affairs in Riyadh called on Thai workers at their camp in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

       On 16 September 2010, at 8.00pm-10.00 pm., CPO 1 Bancha Chuenchom, labour counsellor, along with officers of Office of Labour Affairs in Riyadh and officers of Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh called on Thai workers in order to encourage and provide them an advice and information at their camp of Al Osais Company. This company operates its business in road construction, milestone plant, located in Jubal 500 k.m. of East of Riyadh, near the sea.   The company also has oil finery plant located in.
      Regarding Thai workers’ living conditions, the employers have provided them the accommodation for 4 persons/room and 240 Riyal for food allowance. However, Those Thai workers mostly have more than 20 years experiences so that they gain a high salary raging from 2,500-4,000 Riyal a month including overtime payment. They all age between 44-65 years working for a position of supervisor, manager of road and bridge construction project in Jubail. They are also satisfied their employers cause of their good performance, skills, high responsibility and hospitality.
       Office of Labour Affairs in Riyadh also provided an information regarding being a member of jobseeker aid fund since it could secure Thai workers’ life and got a protection as to the benefits provided by the fund such as the benefits in case of disability or death. Any interested persons can contact any Provincial Office of Employment nearby the area during their vacation in Thailand. In addition, the Office of Labour Affair in Riyadh also gave them an advice on Thailand Overseas Workers Fast Track : TOW at Suwannabhumi International Airport as the 3th August Declaration on working with dignity. It considers Thai workers who are going to work abroad as the important person who generate revenue into the country and it could reduce working process and allow departing and arriving Thai workers to clear the immigration procedures at 4th floor (Exit) and 2nd floor (Entry).

        Mr. Prapol Nusonthi, 54 years of age, said after he knew about a registration for a member of the fund and fast-track channel for Thai workers, he was glad that the government and MOL give precedence to Thai workers. He said he would return to Thailand on 1 December 2010 and would register and report himself at 2nd floor. Then he would register for a member of the fund at Nongkhai Provincial Office of Labour in his domicile
