During 7-11 August 2011, officials of the Office of Labour Affairs in Riyardh travelled to Jeddah to meet with officials of the Office of Labour Affairs in Jeddah and visit Thai workers in the western Saudi Arabian city. On the occasion, they paid a courtesy call on Mr. Chalee Sakolvari, Consul-General of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Jeddah, and were updated about the situation of Thai nationals in the western Saudi Arabian city. The officials also discussed labour situation with Mr. Kreingsak Sritippho, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs) at the Office of Labour Affairs in Jeddah. Later on, they went to visit some 30 Thai goldsmiths in Ta’if, 200 km from Jeddah, to boost their morale. Mr. Damnoen Tawapi, Labour Volunteer, said skillful workers here receive good payment and welfare – some 800-1,600 dollars per month; they have to work overtime sometimes. Workers are also provided with accommodations and meals included in a wage. The officials of the Office of Labour Affairs in Riyardh said they will regularly send interpreters to attend an Arabic course and visit the workers in city.
