As labour demand in Taiwan continues to increase, Taiwan’s Ministry of Labour’s Workforce Development Agency said there were 61,654 registered job-seekers on the island in February, a 10.85 percent increase from the previous month while there were 137,472 available positions. This means that the ratio between job-seekers and available positions is 2.23, the highest in 16 year or since July 1998, when the ratio stood at 2.71.

The Workforce Development Agency attributed the increase in labour demand to the economic recovery in the U.S. and Europe. In January, 80 percent of firms in manufacturing sector needed more workers; so as 72.2 percent of firms in industrial sector and 33.93 percent of firms in logistic and warehouse sectors.
