On August 25, the Taiwanese Ministry of Labour convened the Central Wage Committee but it failed to reach a resolution due to the lack of quorum. The next meeting was set on August 29.

At the meeting, 12 members of the Central Wage Committee turned up so the meeting could not vote for any resolution. Attended the meeting were six labour representatives, three academicians, and three government representatives. The Central Wage Committee is made up of 21 representatives from four sides, seven from the employer side, seven from the labour sector, four from the academic sector, and three from the government sector.

The Taiwanese Labour Minister said the consumer price index rose indicated that the cost of living of labour also increased. This means there is a need for wage hike. He hopes that Central Wage Committee can eventually come with a decisive resolution to the problem.
