Mrs Ratiwan Suntara, Minister Counsellor (Labour Affairs), and Ms Sadudee Kittisuwan, Counsellor (Labour Affairs) attended an award-presenting ceremony for outstanding workers in New Taipei City. The city’s labour and traffic sections organized the event to present honour shields to 402 workers. They included 10 migrant workers, consisting of five Indonesians, three Thais, a Pilipino and a Vietnamese. The event was presided over by the city mayor Chu Li Luan.

They included 10 migrant workers, consisting of five Indonesians, three Thais, a Pilipino and a Vietnamese. The event was presided over by the city mayor Chu Li Luan.
Mrs Ratiwan praised the three Thai awardees and gave them 1,000 Taiwanese dollars each. The Three Thais are Mr Wattana Apai, a Bueng Kan native, who works at Hong Yuan Enterprise Co. (Electric transformers producer), Mr Weerawit Promkham, a Tak native, who works at Unitech Electronics Co., LTD. (Electric mainboard producer) and Mr. Kamolchai Srisopa, an Utaradit native who works at Chun Yuan Steel Factory as a steel cutman.
New Taipei City is second on the list of Taiwanese towns that employ most migrant workers with the number of migrant workers at 70,000, including 8,441 Thais, as of February 2014. Of the Thais there, 8,333 worked in manufacturing sector and 108 worked as curators in welfare sector.
