The Office of Labour in Singapore with the Malaysia Consulate and the Office of Labour in Malaysia visited to help Thai workers on boats that the Malaysia Government had arrested.

The Singaporean Labour Office had received coordination from the employing company of the oil tanker stating that the company owned 4 tankers which had been seized by Malaysia Governments with workers being arrested under the accusation of operation without permission. The case has been in process of consideration by the Court for 6 months already which has caused tanker workers, 60 of which are of Thai nationality to be on the tanker for more than 6 months already. Some had been on the tanker for over 14 months, thus had asked for assistance from the Singaporean Labour Office. The aforementioned group of workers have been under employment contract by the Singaporean Labour Office. Because the tankers had been in Malaysia waters, they had to collaborate with the Malaysian Labour Office to assist in coordination with the Malaysia Officials. The Malaysia Consulate had also been present to facilitate temporary passports to workers with almost expiring passports.
