Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonlert Teerakul chaired the public hearing on the Office of the Permanent Secretary’s strategic plan (2017-2021) at the Chao Praya Park Hotel. He explained that the Office of the Permanent Secretary is an agency that facilitates all affiliated units in aligning with government and ministerial policies, including the Office of the Permanent Secretary’s strategies. He emphasized the importance of plans and also gave time to stakeholders to share their opinions to improve the strategies and align with local needs. Stakeholders included employers, employees, the ministry’s officers and labour volunteers.
Mr. Boonlert spoke about Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha who emphasized to all chiefs of ministries yesterday (29 June 2016) about integration of the public and private sector for national development. As for the draft of the Permanent Secretary Offices’ strategic plan (2017-2021), the plan has 4 strategies comprising workforce development, information technology management for labour-related data, efficient collaboration with labour networks and building ethical organizations. He said that suggestions provided by representatives from the public sector, employers and employees would allow the Office of the Permanent Secretary to improve its strategies for effective implementation.
In addition to this, the Ministry of Labour has formed a 20-year human resource development strategy (2017-2036) which envisions a valuable workforce. The ministry also has a 5-year workforce development plan (2017-2022) in response to the government’s Thailand 4.0 policy.
