Over 150,000 Migrant Workers Registered Over 4 Days

           The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep spoke about the performance of the reporting centers for foreign worker management on 27 July 2017, which is the fourth day of operations for the 100 center nationwide, consisting of 11 in Bangkok and 89 provincially. The cumulative statistic from 24 – 27 July 2017 (information as of 27 July 16.30 hours) showed 47,511 employers with 152,718 workers. On 27 July alone, 10,360 employers went to register at the centers with 31,409 workers, and another 532 employers registered online with 1,186 workers. Most the workers registered were Burmese, followed by Cambodian and Laotian nationals. In terms of industry, the top three were agriculture and livestock, construction and food and beverages accordingly.
           Mr. Ananchai said that the five provinces with the highest number of migrant worker registrations were Bangkok, Samut Prakarn, Rayong, Pathum Thani and Chiang Mai. The Ministry of Labour affirmed that all 100 centers would be open from 24 July to 7 August 2017 without any holidays, from 08.30 to 16.30 hours.
