Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul chaired the signing of the academic agreement on skills development for advanced technology, between the Department of Skills Development represented by Mr. Teerapol Koonmuang and over 200 organizations and universities. Permanent Secretary of Labour and the ministry’s executive committee joined the signing ceremony which took place today at the Jompol P. Pibulsongkram conference room. The Labour Minister said, “The government has important policy on driving national development whereby focusing on human resource development. The Ministry of Labour has therefore formed a 20-year human resource development plan and a 5-year master plan on workforce development, coupled with the Thailand 4.0 policy which aims to effectively develop the workforce from “Manpower” to “Brainpower”.”
After the meeting, Labour Minister General Sirichai added, “The collaboration to prepare the workforce for a Thailand 4.0 includes partnerships with over 200 educational institutions and organizations from the private sector. The collaboration aims to align the workforce’s skills with the labour market’s needs, equipped with the ability to solve complex problems and have advanced technological know-how. There are currently 2 curriculums which support this which are the advanced technology syllabus such as in logistics, digital business, tourism and services, mechatronics, agricultural products, electronics and telecommunications. Companies can gain tax benefits upon training at least 70 percent of their workforce in accordance with the Labour Skills Development Act B.E. 2545. The second syllabus is the “Green Jobs” which promotes roles which boost the economy and reduce environmental impact for future sustainability. This collaboration framework is expected to have over 100,000 people participate in the curriculum.”
