People With Disabilities Thank Gen. Prawit for Supporting Organizations With Employment to Help Them Have Careers and Become Self-Sufficient

            On September 1, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, joined the delegation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan on an official inspection of Chachoengsao Province to monitor the production of tap water for consumption. They also visited the Khlong Nakhon Nueng Khet (Khlong Tha Khai), the opening of the sign of the Public Health Volunteer Club Office of Thailand in Chachoengsao Province, and the opening of the seminar and lecture on “guidelines for promoting democratic governance with the King as Head of State.” The Governor of Chachoengsao Province, Mr. Maitree Traisilanan, gave a welcome speech. The Ministry of Labour’s Spokesperson (on Politics), Mrs. Thienrat Navamawat, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, and heads of government agencies in Chachoengsao Province also joined the occasion.

            On this occasion, General Prawit met and gave encouragement to three people with disabilities, who gave gifts to thank General Prawit for supporting the employment of persons with disabilities under Section 35 of the Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Act, B.E. 2550, and its amendments (No. 2) B.E. 2556, in contracting services, which is the direct employment of persons with disabilities. The first person was Mr. Kawin Sukplai, a visually impaired person. He is currently working as a service worker in the outpatient department at Bang Khla Hospital. The second person was Ms. Chamlong Sisai, a mobility-impaired person. She works as a service worker at the central pay unit in Bang Khla Hospital. The third person was Mr. Kitchai Kittikhun, a mobility-impaired person. He works at Siam Commercial Bank and provides support services to the drunk driving victims network at the Don’t Drunk Drive Foundation, Chachoengsao Province. They also campaign to reduce accidents in the community, serve as a lecturer at various agencies, and pays visits to encourage the disabled. General Prawit also met with informal workers and encouraged the leaders of subdistrict labour volunteers in Chachoengsao Province, who came to welcome the delegation. Labour volunteers link the Ministry of Labour’s mission to the area. They are people who have sacrificed themselves for the public and work closely with people in the community in delivering missions and coordinating labour services to provide people with jobs, skills, occupations, income, protection, and sustainable social security.

            Mr. Suchart continued that the Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Prime Minister, General Prawit Wongsuwan, gives importance to developing the quality of life of vulnerable groups, especially people with disabilities. It aims to promote employment to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, reduce inequality and enhance opportunities for people with disabilities in Thailand to have access to welfare and government services. They aim to enable people with disabilities to support themselves and their families with dignity, free of discrimination.

            “The Ministry of Labour would like to encourage all people with disabilities and thank the organizations for cooperating with the government in promoting the employment of people with disabilities under Section 35 so that people with disabilities have the right to a job and the opportunity to use their professional abilities make an income. It enables them to become self-reliant, reducing the burden on their families and society. This will encourage people with disabilities to be an important force driving the nation’s economy, in line with the government’s policy that aims to drive the economy’s foundation to be strong, without leaving anyone behind,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
