On October 20, 2024, at 1:30 PM, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyuth, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, visited Tha Chana District, Surat Thani Province, to follow up on the activities of labour volunteers. Mr. Suksan Muangkaew, President of the Black Chicken Farming and Organic Livestock Community Enterprise, members of the volunteer labour group in Tha Chana District, community leaders, and local residents welcomed the visit at the enterprise’s facility in Khanthuli Subdistrict, Tha Chana District, Surat Thani.
Mr. Boonsong stated that it was a pleasure to meet the members of the community farming group, which is composed of labour volunteers and insured members under Section 40 of the Social Security Office. The group was founded in 2017 with 10 members and has since grown to 30. They are now formally registered as the “Khanthuli Black Chicken and Organic Livestock Farming Group.” Their goal is to improve the breeding of native chickens by selecting standout traits, such as fast growth and tender meat, for breeding. This helps boost income as agricultural product prices fall, and it allows farmers to make better use of their rubber and palm plantations by raising chickens and other livestock. The group’s products include black chicken breeds, native chickens, chicken feed, herbal remedies for disease prevention, cost-saving organic chicken feed, fresh chicken meat, and processed chicken products.
Mr. Boonsong further explained that the Ministry of Labour, through the Surat Thani Provincial Labour Office, has provided vocational training in chicken feed preparation under the ministry’s occupational support program. This is in line with the policy of Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, which focuses on “Outstanding Social Security, Emphasizing Modern Skills, Ensuring Jobs for Thai People, Creating a Culture of Safety, and Strengthening Thailand’s Labour Economy.” The program helps community members gain vocational skills, increase their income, and improve their quality of life. Ultimately, it aims to strengthen the local economy and create resilient communities. In addition, the event featured consultation services regarding various welfare programs.
