Permanent Secretary Consults Labour Laws with Japanese Chamber of Commerce

        Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti welcomed Mr. Hironori Tsuboi, Secretariat to the Japanese Embassy in Thailand and the labour committee from the Chamber of Commerce. The meeting took place today (31 January 2017) at the Executive Operation Room at the Ministry of Labour. The main agenda was on the 7th Meeting of the Sub – Committee on Enhancement Business Environment Committee – EBE under JTEPA Agreement and the drafting of proposal on labour by Japan. The 7th meeting followed up progress on agendas from the 6th meeting such as clear interpretation of labour laws, revision of labour laws with potential impact on Japanese business investment. The meeting also saw new proposals for 2017 including explanations and alignment with new and amended laws, the Labour Protection Act and directions for minimum wages in the future.
