Today (7 September 2017) Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti gave an address to labour graduates from Pattani province at the Permanent Secretary’s lounge at the Ministry of Labour. The 135 labour graduates were led by Mr. Wichian Muangmai. She said, “I thank you all, Labour Graduates from Pattani for enhancing labour services in the Southern provinces and driving the ministry’s missions. Efforts are in correspondence with government policy which focuses on expanding services to all people in Pattani, developing their skills, increasing income and providing stable professions which will lead to a better quality of life. All of you have been instrumental in acting as communication channels between the public sector and the people, promoting positive thinking, eliminating gaps and creating understanding among the people. Most importantly, your role upholds the royal teachings of “understand, access and develop” as guidelines for fulfilling your duties, promoting the people to live sustainably and at peace.”
Labour graduates are an important communication channel in driving the Ministry of Labour and government’s missions as well as taking services to the people. They are especially important in stabilizing the situation in the Southern regions and strengthening operations of labour volunteers at the local level. Furthermore, labour graduates have helped expand the network with their voluntary spirit and sacrifice for their local communities.
