Permanent Secretary of Labour Commences Open House for the Wellness Corporate Nation-Building Project to Promote Workers’ Quality of Life

            On March 17, 2022, at 13.30 hours, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, to chare the opening of the Open House for the Wellness Corporate Nation-Building (Wellness CNB) project. Prof. Dr. Kriengsak Charoenwongsak (Dr. Dan), President of the Nation-Building Institute, gave a lecture on “the Wellness CNB award for sustainable business creation with a model wellness organization.” Over 100 organizations are interested in participating in onsite and online projects. The occasion took place at the Lexus Showroom on Sukhumvit.
            The Permanent Secretary of Labour commended the Nation-Building Institute and students of the Wellness Entrepreneurship Leadership Program for Nation Creation which gives importance to creating good quality people with the ideology to build the nation. It is the key to driving and creating change in society. He also thanked the National Building Institute and the NBI’s Wellness students who initiated projects that benefit the nation in many ways. This includes the Wellness CNB project that helps promote workers’ quality of life in organizations, which is an important mission of the Ministry of Labour.
            The Wellness CNB program took place at a time perfectly suited to the current situation. The COVID-19 pandemic during the past two years has affected all groups of workers and all occupations. Many people have lost their jobs, reduced wages, and welfare, and changed working patterns. There is an Increased dependence on digital tools. These changes inevitably affect the quality of life and well-being of Thai workers. The government, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and the Ministry of Labour care for the workforce, which comprises 11.5 million formal workers and 16 million informal workers. The workforce as a whole has almost 38 million people. It aims to promote a good quality of life. In the past two years, the Ministry of Labour has tried to take care of the wellness of Thai workers in all dimensions so that all workers in all groups are treated equally and thoroughly. There are missions in four key areas: skill development, promoting employment in the country, protection, and resolution of labour problems, and the development of a quality of life using the mechanism of the Social Security Office.
            Mr. Boonchob added that this project will play an important role in promoting wellness within the Thai workforce, supporting what the Ministry of Labour has always given importance to. It will support the creation of a good quality of life for workers in the future. Additionally, it will be of great benefit to all organizations participating in developing the quality of life care standards for all workers.
