On November 11, 2021, at 09.00 hours, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong presided over the seminar’s opening to listen to opinions on the (draft) wage rates according to skill standards in 16 branches, batch 1, occupation group in the service sector. The meeting took place at the Saengsingkaew meeting room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. The meeting listened to opinions from the House of Representatives, representative employer organizations, employee organizations, private sector organizations, employers, business owners, and relevant employees. The topics covered included providing a knowledge base on establishing national skill standards, labour skill standard assessment, and setting wage rates following skill standards. The session also covered a brainstorming of opinions and suggestions on (draft) wage rates according to skill standards in 16 fields obtained from the survey results of enterprises and employees.
In 2021, the 21st Wage Committee resolved to set wage rates according to skill standards in 16 additional fields. It ordered the appointment of a subcommittee on wage rates following skill standards in 3 occupation groups, to serve in the preparation of (draft) wage rates according to skill standards in 16 fields, proposed to the Wage Committee as follows: seven professional service sector groups, namely holistic health promoters, Thai Sappaya (therapy), bakery operators, front desk staff, food, and beverage service staff in hotels and restaurants, women’s hairdressers, men’s hairdressers, and elderly caretakers. There are five construction worker group branches: gypsum installers, computer-aided construction draftsman, wall and floor tilers, building painters, and lightweight concrete builders and installers. There are four industrial arts technicians: jewelry technicians (figures), furniture installation technicians, conservative jewelry craftsmen (ancient technique), and mechanics.
