Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 6

On June 28, 2024, at 09.30 hours, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, gave a report before the 22nd Wage Committee Meeting No. 6/2024 that took place at the Prasong Rananant Meeting Room, 5th floor, Ministry of Labour. He said that today is the meeting to consider the appointment of the academic and screening subcommittee, and the subcommittee will consider the provincial minimum wage rate to fill vacant positions due to being appointed to a Member of the Senate (Senator). The committee consists of representatives of employers, employees, government, and relevant officials who attended the meeting. This meeting did not have any issues related to the minimum wage. After July 31, the numbers provided by the provinces will be compiled to evaluate if provinces want to increase the minimum wage and how they want to increase it.

The minimum wage consideration timeline is set to July 31. The consideration of the sub-provinces will be sent to a larger sub-group by July 31. At this time, they have received some information from the provinces. This is preliminary information that asks for opinions and has not yet been passed through the tripartite committee.

Information is expected to be received from all provinces by July 31. They will need to follow up on how much each province intends to increase the minimum wage.
