Permanent Secretary of Labour Joins Deputy PM’s Delegation to Meet Labour Volunteers and Monitor Water Management in the Central Region to Help Drought Victims in Uthai Thani

          On March 21, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong, to join the Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan’s delegation on a government inspection to monitor water management in the central region. The visit also delivered policies to relevant agencies to resolve water shortages to help drought-affected areas. The occasion took place at the Ban Rai Wittaya School, Ban Rai Subdistrict, Ban Rai District, Uthai Thani Province. Uthai Thani Provincial Governor Mr. Kajonkiat Rakpanichmanee welcomed the heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Uthai Thani Province and the related agencies that participated. On this occasion, General Prawit met and encouraged the labour volunteers in Uthai Thani province who came to welcome him. Labour volunteers disseminate the Ministry of Labour’s mission to the area. They are devoted to the public and work closely with the people in the community, coordinating labour services to provide people with jobs, skills, occupations, income, protection, and sustainable social security.
          Mr. Boonchob said that the government under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, gives importance and urgency to resolving different issues for workers, companies, and the people, especially those who have experienced drought in the area. Today, he and his team were assigned by the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, to join the Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan’s delegation. He shared his concern and encouragement to the workers, and the people, including labour volunteers, civil servants, and officials in the drought-hit areas, wishing them safety from COVID-19.
          Mr. Boonchob also spoke about the Ministry of Labour’s measures to help people affected by the droughts. He has instructed the Provincial Labour Offices to request a budget to prepare urgent employment and skill development projects to alleviate occupational hardships. The project will help community members affected by drought earn an income and alleviate the burden of family expenses. He also instructed the Provincial Labour Officers to coordinate with local labour volunteers to visit the communities, ask about their needs for additional vocational training, increase income, support other needs following labour missions, and work together and coordinate assistance with districts and provinces closely.
