On August 2, 2024, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Pairoj Chotikasathien, commenced the “Creating Jobs and Career Paths@Phuket” event. The Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Siraphop Duangsodsri, presided over the opening event. The Department of Employment’s Deputy Director-General, Mr. Sibmuenchai Phothisin, gave a report. The Deputy Governor of Phuket Province, Colonel Adul Chuthong, the Phuket Provincial Employment Officer, Mr. Phichit Singthongkham, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phuket gave a welcome. The Secretariat to the Labour Minister, Mr. Aree Krainara, also joined the occasion at the Pago Design Hotel Phuket, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket Province.
In addition, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, along with senior executives of the Ministry of Labour, also visited the activities within the event, including recruitment and direct interviews with employers/establishments in Phuket and neighboring provinces. There were a total of 52 companies with over 2,135 vacancies, such as shop staff, customer service staff, online marketing staff, chefs, waiters, technicians, electricians, and accountants.
The event had recruitment for students, the disabled, and the elderly, presentations on “Essential Skills in the AI Everywhere Era,” as well as consultation and registration for those interested in working abroad. There were career demonstrations and freelance training in fields such as eco-prints, folding flowers from banknotes, Phuket pineapple chili paste, and Kim Sin (Chinese Buddha) jewelry. There were educational guidance exhibitions for students nearing graduation, virtual learning exhibitions and career paths in the tourism and service sectors, career guidance services, career readiness tests and English language assessments for job applications, and personality assessment services for further education and career selection. There were exhibitions and sales of products for home-based workers, OTOP groups, disabled groups, the elderly, prisoners, franchise businesses, and special food trucks. This event also received cooperation from the Department of Internal Trade and the Ministry of Commerce, bringing over 100 low-priced Blue Flag products, up to 55% off, to be sold at the event.
