Content Description

On November 17, 2021, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Boonchob Suttamanaswong visited the area to monitor and listen to the performance and inspect three training courses of the Phang Nga Office of Skill Development (Phang Nga DSD). The courses included coffee business with 20 trainees, English training for remote working with 20 trainees, and the cleaning and maintenance of home air conditioners with 15 trainees. He also participated in the tree planting (honeycomb) activity, the royal tree of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua. The occasion took place at the Phang Nga Office of Skill Development.
Mr. Boonchob said that Phang Nga Province is an Andaman province with an abundance of resources. There are beautiful and world-famous attractions, which attract many Thais and foreign tourists. As a result, it creates jobs and income for people in the area and the nation. However, the COVID-19 outbreak has resulted in decreased income from tourism. Therefore, the Department of Skill Development plays an important role in the recovery of the Thai economy by building a stable economic foundation. In particular, the emphasis is on creating jobs and careers that will lead to workers’ income at the local, community, and other levels.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour added that he would like to encourage government officials, officers, and trainees. He said that skill development efforts must meet the labour needs in the area and the labour market needs, which will result in a stable career for workers to have a sustainable income. He asked the Phang Nga DSD to develop curriculums to keep up with the rapidly changing situation, especially during the country’s opening to welcome tourists in. This includes the integration of collaboration with the five labour leaders and related network partners to further develop quality workers.
“I ask that trainees use the knowledge gained to good use, to keep practicing for the benefit of yourselves. If you want more training, you can create a group and report back to the Phang Nga DSD to continue to upgrade your skills. Your efforts will help create a career and sustainable income,” concluded Permanent Secretary Mr. Boonchob.
