Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti revealed that she had received reports that all 100 service centers for migrant worker registrations were ready and equipped with computer systems. Tomorrow (24 July 2017) will be the first day of service, with the first queue ticket distributed at 07.30 hours.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour emphasized the Ministry of Labour’s 3 processes which include 1) Between 24 July – 7 august 2017, employers must fill in an application for migrant worker employment and attach a picture of the worker, which must then be submitted to the 11 reporting centers in Bangkok 2) Between 8 August – 6 September 2017, employers must take their workers to meet with officers to confirm their status as employer and employee 3) Obtain their certificate of identity (CI) which can be issued from the One Stop Service centers in Thailand for Burmese and Cambodian workers, whereas Laotian workers must return to Laos to get their passports before proceeding to the One Stop Service Center for a visa, medical examination and work permit. The fees will cost 4,400 Baht for Cambodian workers, 2,360 Baht for Burmese workers and 2,050 Baht for Laotian workers.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour added that Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul asked all affiliated units to work together and officers have been assigned to facilitate service users efficiently. In addition to this, Employers will be able to submit forms electronically without having to physically visit the centers. The forms can be downloaded on the Department of Employment’s website (www.doe.go.th), The Ministry of Labour’s website (www.mol.go.th) and the Foreign Worker Management Office (www.doe.go.th/alien).
