Permanent Secretary’s Office Plans Working Strategies

Content Description

On 18 April 2017, Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti assigned Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Singhadet Chu-umnart to chair the Permanent Secretary Offices’ strategic planning (2017-2021) workshop for the first time this year at the Nikom Chandravithun Conference Room. The Deputy Permanent Secretary spoke about the importance of strategies as a mechanism to direct both public and private organizations, as well as their shareholders towards aligned goals. He said that rapid human resource development was a challenge for Thailand and the Ministry of Labour, such as development towards a Thailand 4.0, the target to remove Thailand from the middle-income gap, progression towards an aging society, limitations in productivity and external challenges such as the UNs 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development Goals, and the union of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.

Mr. Singhadet said that the Permanent Secretary of Labour’s Office’s internal factors would need to consider alignment with other affiliated organizations, effective human resource management, structural reformation, zero corruption policies and importance on knowledge sharing. Apart from planning the office’s strategies for 2017-2021, the workshop facilitated integration of plans, directions for clear and practical working frameworks and solutions for various labour-related challenges through a proactive working approach, implementation of government policy and communication of development frameworks to relevant units.
