Content Description

The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, joined the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence General Prayuth Chan-ocha’s delegation on a visit to inspect the Kamphaeng Phet provincial government to monitor the progress of poverty alleviation and the sustainable development of people of all ages following the sufficiency economy philosophy. The Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, the Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General, Mrs. Tongjai Suthat Na Ayutthaya, Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Samat Pattamasukon, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Kamphaeng Phet Province participated in the occasion. Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Governor, Mr. Chaowalit Saeng-Uthai, welcomed the delegation at the Kluay Khai plot, Moo 7, Tha Phutsa Subdistrict, Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province.
The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, led the Prime Minister to visit the Ministry of Labour’s activities that they have worked on with the province. In education, they observed trainees’ work in the vocational skill enhancement program for students who did not continue their studies after completing compulsory courses. On living, they visited the training course for welders and steel roof truss installation at the Kamphaeng Phet Skills Development Office, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, to add awnings for the poor and provide benefits to compensate for lack of income to insured persons under Section 40. They also observed processed banana products, whereby sellers received training in making cha-lom from the Kamphaeng Phet Skills Development Office. They were able to add value to their products to make them more attractive and generate additional income for themselves and their families.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister met with informal workers groups and encouraged the leaders of subdistrict labour volunteers and labour networks in Kamphaeng Phet Province, who came to welcome them. Labour volunteers are key in linking the Ministry of Labour’s missions to the area. They are persons who have sacrificed themselves for the public and work closely with people in the community in bringing the mission of coordinating labour services to provide people with jobs, skills, occupations, income, protection, and sustainable social security. Kamphaeng Phet Province has a total of 78 volunteer workers.
Mr. Suchart added that the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense General Prayuth Chan-ocha, and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, who oversees the Ministry of Labour, focus on driving poverty eradication and sustainable development of people of all ages, following the sufficiency economy philosophy. In the visit to the Kamphaeng Phet area, the Ministry of Labour responded to the policy, working with relevant agencies to develop the potential of Thai people of all ages, to promote professional skills, especially for students who do not continue their studies after completing compulsory courses. It provides students with skills before entering the labour market, supporting them to have a job, an income, and a stable career. This also includes informal workers in the area. Most of the villagers in Kamphaeng Phet are in agricultural occupations. Therefore, it is very important to apply modern technology to convert agriculture into smart agriculture, add value, and reduce production costs. This can be developed further into a business that generates income to drive the community economy.
