The Labour Minister gave relief funds the families of the 5 victims of the crane collapse from the Compensation Fund and Social Security Fund in the total amount of 7,946,127.16 Baht. He also ordered the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare to investigate the facts from the employer urgently.
On January 28, 2019, Labour Minister H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo presented funds to the family members to eligible to receive benefits from the Compensation Fund and Social Security Fund for the workers who died from the crane collapse while connecting the crane to construct a luxury condominium on Rama 3 Road, Bang Phongphang. Yannawa, Bangkok, The incident caused 5 deaths and 5 injuries on January 23.
Pol.Gen. Adul spoke about the Ministry of Labour’s remedial measures, whereby the Social Security Office had considered the incident as a cause of danger from work. Injured workers would be entitled to benefits from the Compensation Fund such as medical expense coverage as actually paid. As for the workers who lost their lives, the Labour Minister gave relief funds the families, from both the Compensation Fund and Social Security Fund. The families will receive the following: 1) Mr. Witoon Chaimee’s family will receive money for funeral expenses, compensation for death and a pension fund from the Social Security Fund totaling 1,812,728.60 Baht. 2) Mr. Termsak Sripitak’s family will receive money for funeral expenses, compensation for death and a pension fund from the Social Security Fund totaling 1,792,370.16 Baht. 3) Mr. Wicha Kameeai’s family will receive money for funeral expenses, compensation for death and a pension fund from the Social Security Fund totaling 1,423,156.86 Baht. 4) Mr. Sin Karnsakul’s family will receive money for funeral expenses, compensation for death and a pension fund from the Social Security Fund totaling 1,548,981.14 Baht and 5) Mr. Tanachok Brikrut’s family will receive money for funeral expenses, compensation for death and a pension fund from the Social Security Fund totaling 1,368,890.40 Baht. The total amount paid to the eligible families from the Compensation Fund and Social Security Fund will amount to 7,946,127.16 Baht.
Pol.Gen. Adul spoke about the progress of the prosecution against the employer. Currently, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare is calling for the employers to investigate facts; they have been urged to proceed as soon as possible.
