“Pol.Gen. Adul” Visits Chonburi to Cheak Preparations of EEC Labour Administration Center

          The Labour Minister visited Chonburi to check the readiness of the facilities, operations, equipment and workforce before the official launch of the EEC Labour Administration Center.  

          On November 23, 2018, Labour Minister, H.E. Police General Adul Sangsingkeo checked the preparations of the EEC Labour Administration Center, along with Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Jarin Chakkaphark and the ministry’s management team at the Chonburi Skill Development Institute 3, No. 145 Nong Mai Daeng, Mueang, Chonburi. The party checked the readiness of facilities, operations, equipment and workforce, including the ability to provide visa and work permit services in cooperation with the BOI. 

 

 

          Pol.Gen. Adul said that the center would be a place for systematic recruitment and labour development, providing services as a one stop service center to support the growth of industries in the EEC area. There are 5 steps which include: 1) Job applications/report of job vacancies, interview for job requirements and basic qualifications of job seekers 2) Career guidance and assessments 3) Job matching and arranging for candidates to meet employers 4) Skill training, skill standard assessments and evaluations to certify knowledge, advise organizations about the benefits of the Skills Development Promotion Act 5) Labour protection and social security benefits.
          Chonburi has a workforce of 1,053,010 people consisting of 1,045,522 employed and 7,488 unemployed workers. There are 18,003 organizations, of these 1,191 require 15,633 workers consisting of 9,471 in the industry and 6,152 in the services sectors. For Chachoengsao, there are 431,844 workers, 429,515 employed, 2,329 unemployed, 185,609 informal and 53,420 migrant workers. There are 3,202 organizations, of these, 488 require 6,073 workers. As for Rayong, there are 564,614 workers consisting of 559,958 employers, 4,240 are unemployed, 416 seasonal and 112,091 migrant workers, within 9,209 organizations.
          A survey of labour demand in the EEC area showed that another 29,914 workers are in demand from 2,178 organizations from a total of 26,792 organizations. Most require workers in the traditional industrial/services sector with 19,096 job vacancies, followed by 10,818 vacancies in the 10 targeted industries. Categorized by type of work, manufacturing was highest, followed by services and treatment. Overall, organizations in the area still had demand for manpower. When considering the type of work required by each province, it was found that Chonburi needed most in services, Rayong in quality inspection and Chachoengsao in logistics.
