Preparation for 21st Century Workforce Underway

            At 17.00 on 24 March 2017, Permanent Secretary of Labour M.L. Puntrik Smiti chaired the meeting on directions for workforce development towards the 21st century in alignment with the, with various relevant departments at the Department of Skill Development’s Pakorn Angsusingh Conference Room. The aim is to add value and improve the workforce using government framework to ensure the people are equipped with the right skills, mindset and mentality, which will require collaboration from both the public and private sector together. Directions for the 21st century workforce is separated into 6 groups within 3 frameworks comprising the overall picture of development, highlighted projects from each unit and the 2017 Quick Win Project. This project will be launched to promote innovation among children through support of startup businesses and research in agriculture.

 

            Each unit was assigned a target group and will be responsible for formulating an emergency plan/project for 2017. Conclusions will then be presented in the forum on 4 April before each ministry’s Permanent Secretary meet to give consensus on 5 April. The conclusions are expected to be presented to the Prime Minister to consider in approving the 21st Century Workforce Development Plan within this April.
