On December 13, 2022, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, assigned the Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, to preside over and witness the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in the Mortgage Loan for Insured Persons Project, between the Social Security Office and the Government Housing Bank. The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, from the Ministry of Labour, signed the Memorandum of Understanding with the Government Housing Bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Chatchai Sirilai. The Ministry of Labour’s executives witnessed the signing ceremony at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour.
Mr. Surachai said that the government, under the leadership of the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, General Prayuth Chan-ocha, emphasizes improving life quality and strengthening workers’ security. A home or residence is one of the factors that will help strengthen the stability of workers to have a better quality of life. Nowadays, buying a house is expensive. Therefore, the Labour Minister, Mr. Suchat Chomklin, had a thought to help reduce expenses for insured persons without homes so that they can have a home of their own to live in when they retire. Therefore, the Social Security Office accelerated the implementation of the housing loan project for insured persons through cooperation with the Government Housing Bank. The project was launched with a budget not exceeding 30,000 million Baht.
The Social Security Office’s Secretary-General, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, said for this housing loan project for insured persons, the Social Security Office has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government Housing Bank. It allows insured persons in the social security system under Section 33, who have paid contributions for at least six months, to exercise their right to reduce the interest rate on housing loans. The insured person can exercise the right to redeem the mortgage or refinance from other financial institutions, including reducing the interest rate of housing loans in the loan account borrowed from the Government Housing Bank.
The Government Housing Bank’s Managing Director, Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, said that today, GHB is very pleased to sign the Memorandum of Understanding with the Social Security Office, in which the GHB is ready to support government policies to help reduce the burden of expenses for people under the housing loan program for insured persons. The Government Housing Bank is ready to help alleviate payment costs for residential installments through low-interest loans and fixed rates for years 1-5, equal to 1.99% per year, years 6-8, equal to MRR-2.00% (4.15%) per year, and for the 9th year until the end of the contract period, equal to MRR-0.50% (5.65%) per year. The current MRR interest rate of GHB is 6.150% per year. It allows installment payments of up to 40 years for loans not exceeding 2 million Baht. The insured person can request a code to join the project through the GHB ALL or GHB ALL GEN application from December 16, 2022, at 8.00 hours to January 15, 2023, at 24.00 hours. The insured persons will receive a code for joining the project through GHB Buddy in the Line Application. Then, they can use the code received to apply for a loan at GHB ALL GEN branches nationwide. Insured persons can request a certificate for their insured persons’ status in an electronic form with Social Security Offices nationwide. They can apply for a loan with the Government Housing Bank from December 20, 2022, to December 19, 2023, and do legal transactions within January 31, 2024.
