Songkran Festival in Brunei in 2011

      According to public relations news of Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei inviting Thais in Brunei to join Songkran Festival held during 12-13 April 2011 at Royal Thai Embassy. The results of the festival are as follows;
1. There were 150-200 participants including Thais and Brunei people. They joined a rite of pouring scented water on Buddha Statue, and water-pouring into the palms hands of the elder, banquet, and Brunei petanque charity competition “Thais helps flood-affected victims in Southern Region of Thailand” There were members of petanque club, Brunei petanque team and local press joined the activities as well.
2. Water-pouring on Pra Buddha Sihing which is the image of Buddha of Royal Thai Embassy, Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei and Thai people.
3. Water-pouring into the palms hands of the elder. Mr. Vitsanu Sakdiyakorn, the president of Thai society in Brunei, his wife and mothers of Thais in Brunei who have meritoriousness were representative of the elder to bless Thais and Thai labours.
4. Office of Labour Affairs in Brunei, Royal Thai Embassy, Thai entrepreneurs and Thais brought food to share in the Songkran Festival Banquet.
5.  Water-slashing among Thais and Brunei people

6. Petanque Charity Competition titled” Thais helps flood-affected victims in Southern region of Thailand” earned 2,400 Brunei Dollar or equivalent to 33,600 Baht. This competition was supported by Brunei Petanque Club which sent 4 teams to compete with Thai team. The result of the competition are as follows; Brunei Petanque Team A was the winner, Brunei Petanque Team B received the runner up award, Brunei Petanque Team KB of Mr. Watcharapong Nanta received second runner up award. In this regard, Mr. Somsak Juichunprasert along with Officer of Labour Affairs in Brunei will grant the income to Minister of Royal Thai Embassy in order to further send to help flood-affected victims in Southern region of Thailand 
        Mr. Anachack Sutayon, Minister Counsellor (labour) therefore would like to thank to Thais for supporting foods, beverage, supplies and donation and thank to officials and officers who are participating in this festival. The Songkran Festival held in Brunei is regarded as the important custom arranged for carrying on Thai tradition.
