State Enterprise Workers Prepare to Celebrate! Labour Minister Chairs State Enterprise Labour Relations Committee Meeting: Announces Proceeding with Wage Adjustments Not Exceeding 10%, Increasing Welfare, and Establishing 3 Subcommittees to Drive Labour Standards

On March 6, 2025, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labour, chaired the State Enterprise Labour Relations Committee (SELR) Meeting No. 2/2025, at the Prof. Nikom Chantravitun Meeting Room, 5th floor, Department of Labour Protection and Welfare. Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Lieutenant Commander Saroj Khomkhai, the Director-General of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, and the new State Enterprise Labour Relations Committee, which consists of three parties, employers, employees and the government, attended the meeting.

Mr. Phiphat said that the meeting focused on developing welfare, protecting labour rights, and strengthening labour relations in state enterprises, with the following key issues for consideration:

  1. Adjusting wages of state enterprises. The parties agreed to define the scope of employment conditions related to finance by adjusting wages not to exceed 10 percent of the current wages received within 2 years. The adjustment must consider the financial status, performance of the business, and procurement of each state enterprise. Currently, it is in the process of listening to opinions from the Office of the Civil Service Commission and presenting them to the Cabinet.
  2. Expand welfare for state enterprise workers. The meeting agreed to increase special assistance compensation for workers in risk areas, such as the southern border provinces, to 3,750 Baht per month.
  3. Guidelines for resolving labour disputes. Establish guidelines for state enterprises to improve their compensation and welfare structures to reduce conflicts between employers and employees.

In addition, there were matters to consider and appoint subcommittees, namely: 1. Subcommittee for Consideration of Employment Conditions of State Enterprises 2. Subcommittee for Consideration of State Enterprise Labour Relations Laws, and 3. Subcommittee for Promoting Labour Relations in State Enterprises.

Mr. Phiphat continued that the Ministry of Labour emphasized the importance of state enterprise workers as a key mechanism of the Thai economy and confirmed that the Ministry of Labour will continue to push for measures to ensure that state enterprise workers receive fair wages, appropriate welfare, and work in a stable environment. The conclusions from this meeting will be implemented urgently to benefit state enterprise workers nationwide and create future workforce stability.
