The amendment would allow workers (including foreign workers in Taiwan) to have more days off, but would affect employers by increasing costs of overtime labour by 29.4 billion Taiwanese Dollars annually overall (if employers demand employees to work overtime in compensation for the reduced working hours). It is forecasted that SMEs in the manufacturing industry will be impacted most. The Taiwanese Ministry of Labour is therefore still studying measures to support these affects.
