Taiwan Labour Office Reports ‘Unemployment Rates Decreased to 3.9 Percent in August 2015’

The Central Bureau of Statistics and Accounting of Taiwan’s Executive Council announced unemployment statistics for August 2015, where the unemployment rate during that period was equivalent to 3.9 percent which was the lowest rate Taiwan had experienced in 15 years. The statistic reduced by 0.08 percent from July 2015, and 0.18 percent from the same month in the previous year. From the period of January to August 2015, the average unemployment rate stood at 3.73 percent; the lowest in 15 years.

Unemployment statistics categorized by age found that workers between the ages of 15 to 24 years had an unemployment rate of 12.93 percent, whereas workers aged 25 to 44 years had a rate of 4.03 percent and 1.95 percent for workers aged between 45 and 64 years. Unemployment statistics categorized by education level found a 2.75 percent unemployment rate for those completing lower secondary school, a rate of 3.90 percent for those completing upper secondary school, 4.33 percent for vocational degree holders and 5.07 percent for Bachelor degree holders and above.
