Content Description

On March 14, 2022, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Pairoj Chotiksetian, chaired a meeting to listen to a presentation on the online Saudi Arabian employment and visa system, which also hosted a discussion between the Thai and Saudi Arabian recruitment offices/companies. The meeting took place at the Thien Achakul Conference Room, 10th floor, Department of Employment. Assistant to the Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Samat Pattamasukon also attended the meeting.
Mr. Pairoj said that he was assigned by the Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin to chair the meeting to listen to the presentation of Saudi Arabia’s online system and to discuss with the Thai and Saudi Arabian recruiting offices/companies, allowing the exchange of ideas and discussions on the process of dispatching Thai workers to work in Saudi Arabia for order and efficiency. The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Employment recognizes the importance of driving Thai workers to work abroad with dignity, ensuring protection according to international principles and good quality of life. It prepared workers before traveling overseas by providing knowledge, awareness, skills development, and craftsmanship to meet the labour market demands in foreign countries. The goal is for Thai workers who travel to work abroad to be upgraded to Smart Labour and promote workers to receive work protection while working abroad following international principles, receiving good compensation and good quality of life, and generating income to stimulate the domestic economy and promote stable growth.
Mr. Pairoj continued that employers prefer Thai workers because they are skilled workers, have potential, and are ready to work abroad in various professional fields, such as craftsmen in the construction sector, technician work, service work, and tourism, to support the growth of the labour market in foreign countries. This is an opportunity for Thai workers who want to travel to Saudi Arabia. According to the Thai Overseas Workforce Administration (as of March 11, 2022), there are now 1,011 job seekers who wish to work in Saudi Arabia, who registered through the E-service system, website https://toea.doe.go.th. This population is divided into 670 males and 341 females. Job seekers who wish to travel to work abroad must register with the Overseas Employment Center, the information center for job seekers who want to travel abroad. Job seekers must provide important information such as the country they wish to travel to for work, desired positions, knowledge, skills, work experience, and foreign language skills. They can register at the Smart Job Center, Thai Labour Administration Division, Bangkok Employment Office Areas 1-10, or the Provincial Employment Offices in every province or register via e-Service on the website http://toea.doe.go.th.
“The success of today’s meeting between the two private sectors will lead to better labour cooperation. It is based on respect and upholding the obligations in the framework of international law and existing bilateral labour cooperation agreements, to coordinate work closely and exchange information on labour that is useful to both sides to achieve common goals in the future,” concluded Mr. Pairoj.
