On the mark of the auspicious occasion of the 60th Royal Wedding Ceremony Aniversary, on 28 April 2010 the Office of Labour Affairs in Manila (Section 2 Taipei) and Thai labours in Taiwan are highly delighted at and commemorated on their majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s great royal grace.
It has been 60 years since the royal marriage between his majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and her majesty Queen Sirikit on 28 April 1950. During the whole time their majesties King Bumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit have been recognized as the heart and the soul of Thai populace all along. Their majesties have traveled though the kingdom to the rural areas to overcome difficulties for their subjects with their careless efforts. This finally led to the establishment of numbers of their majesties Royal and Royally-Initiated projects.
In 1948 during the time his majesty studied in Lausanne Switzerland, his majesty drove his royal car from Lausanne to Paris to look at a car manufacturing factory and to go to the concerts of many famous musicians. In that time His Highness Prince Nakkhatra Mangkala Kitiyakara, Thai Ambassador to Paris, and family had an opportunity to welcome his majesty. This was where his majesty first met Mom Rajawongse Sirikit Kitiyakara who also shared great interest and understanding of art music. Since then in every other occasion when his majesty was welcomed by Kitiyakara family, his majesty would often let the Kitiyakara family perform music instrument together with him. His majesty thus developed close relationship with Kitiyakara family, particular with Mom Rajawongse Sirikit.
On 4 December 1948, his majesty had a car accident in Switzerland. While in hospital, his majesty often asked Mom Rajawongse Sirikit to pay a visit and to take care of his majesty. Their relationship grew strong during this time. Later on his mother asked Mom Rajawongse Sirikit to go and study special subject for lady’s etiquette at a famous boarding school in Lausanne. On 19 July 1949 his mother asked Mom Rajawongse Sirikit to get engaged to his majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. His majesty presented the engaged ring, the one that his father presented to his mother on the engagement, to Mom Rajawongse Sirikit. The engagement ceremony was quietly organized. On 28 April 1950, his majesty and his fiancé had a royal wedding ceremony which was presided over by the Queen Consort Savang Vadhana at Sra Pathum Palace.
After the royal wedding ceremony, his majesty granted Mom Rajawongse Sirikit a queen status. On 5 December 1956 his majesty conferred the official titled of “Somdet Phra Nang Chao Sirikit Phra Borommarachininat” to the queen.
On the mark of the auspicious occasion of the 60th Royal Wedding Ceremony, the Office of Labour Affairs in Manila (Section 2 Taipei) and Thai labors in Taiwan are appreciated by their majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s great royal grace and kindly manner which their majesty conducted. We ask for the royal permission to bless their majesties happiness and strength to be our highly revered King and Queen forever.
