The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep spoke about the progress of the MOA on employment of workers from CLMV nations. He said that Thailand will meet with Laos at the Dusit Thani Hote in Hua Hin on 28 February – 1 March 2017.
Important agendas for discussion include the efficient arrangement of workers through MOU channels, report of companies permitted to import migrant workers for employment in Thailand, operations conducted by the migrant workers’ coordination center and consideration for the Laotian worker nationality verification process to be completed within 1 March 2017. Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul will chair the signing ceremony on the agreement for employment between the Ministry of Labour and the Laotian Ministry of Labour & Social Welfare, which aims to determine collaboration on ensuring legality of workers, enforcement of protection and basic rights, as well as elimination of human-trafficking.
“The MOA with CLMV will promote close ties so that we can determine employment processes, pre-departure training, ensure protection and rights and prevent human trafficking. This will ensure that employment between Thailand and CLMV nations will be effective, leading to better alignment of supply and demand as promotion of the future economy and society,” said the Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipatanacheep.
