On October 4, 2024, at 11.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, the Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, executives from the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, the Social Security Office, along with the delegation and the skilled workers team from 8 northern provinces, went to Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province to assist flood victims.
Mr. Phiphat said that amid the flooding situation, the Permanent Secretary of Labour and the Director-General have worked with the heads of provincial government agencies, the government sector, the private sector, and volunteers in the area. This is the second time that they have come to help with the flooding in Chiang Rai Province. They are concerned about the villagers and fellow workers who are still affected by the disaster. The water is still flooding houses and damaging workplaces. The Labour Minister and his team have brought relief bags from the Ministry of Labour and consumer goods from the labour network businesses to distribute them as an initial measure. They have also brought a team of over 50 technicians from the Department of Skill Development to set up a maintenance point in the area. In addition, executives from the Department of Employment, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, and the Social Security Office have come to meet and discuss with the people their needs, help solve problems and plan for the rehabilitation of their homes, and solve the issues of the workers in the long term after the flood subsides.

I would like to thank the Acting Governor of Chiang Rai Province, Khun Chotinrin Keotsom, the Mayor of Mae Sai, KhunChaiyont Srisamut, Mayor of Mae Sai Mittraphap, Khune Ubon Jaiwanna, Member of Parliament, Mr. Piyarat Tiyapairat, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Military Civil Affairs, Maj. Gen. Chayaphanat Wirirat and all relevant officials have worked together with the Ministry of Labour to help the people and all workers. If you have any problems, please notify the Ministry of Labour’s officials in the province. We have mobilized a team of technicians to help repair with full force,” concluded Minister Phiphat.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, added that due to the flood situation, the Ministry of Labour has provided relief bags in cooperation with private sector businesses and agencies under the Ministry of Labour to the people who are suffering in 41 affected provinces. Today’s visit to the area, along with the five labour leaders provided consumer goods and financial assistance to the families of laborers, including the families of labour volunteers, labour graduates, and officers affected by the flood to provide moral support and alleviate their suffering.
The Department of Skill Development’s Director-General, Ms. Bubpha Rueangsud, added that the Chiang Rai Skill Development Institute 20 has been assigned to set up service points in the affected areas in each district, totaling 5 points: Moo 8 Ban Pa Yang, Moo3 Ban San Phak Hi, Koh Sai Community, Mae Sai District, Moo 3 Rim Kok Subdistrict, and Thawi Rat Community, Rim Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District. The service points will provide repair services for household electrical appliances, motorcycles, and small agricultural engines for the public. The team of technicians is from the Chiang Rai Skill Development Institute 20 and nearby provinces, namely the Lampang SKI 10, the Chiang Mai SKI 19, the International SKI, the Human Resource Development Institute for the Healthcare Industry, the Lamphun, Phayao and Nan SKI, including the integration with Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna Chiang Rai in this support. Currently, 335 people have registered to bring their motorcycles and electrical appliances for service, consisting of 145 motorcycle repairs, 171 electrical appliances, and 19 small engines such as lawnmowers. The Ministry of Labour, through the Department of Skill Development, is still assisting until the end of October. After this, people can bring electrical appliances for repair at institutes and skill development offices in the province.
