On November 29, 2024, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, spoke about the progress of providing support to those affected in the southern region. Flash floods and forest runoff have occurred in several southern provinces at this time, and the rain continues to fall, causing widespread impacts on the people. On the Ministry of Labour’s part, the Permanent Secretary of Labour has instructed the leaders of agencies under the Ministry of Labour or the “five labour leaders” in the flood-affected areas to deliver relief bags in the area. The bags include essential consumer goods to be provided to the affected people, including graduates, labour volunteers, civil servants, employees, and officers who are affected.
“I am concerned about the workers, civil servants, and the Ministry of Labour’s officials, including labour volunteers and graduates in the disaster-stricken areas. The Ministry of Labour stands by the people to take care of their morale and provide necessary items to the affected, both those affected by the disaster and those who are working to help employers, employees, and the public, so that there are no shortcomings. Employees, insured persons, employers, businesses, and the public affected by the flood who are currently suffering and need assistance from agencies under the Ministry of Labour can contact the Ministry of Labour’s hotline at 1506,” said Mr. Phiphat.
The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Boonsong Thapchaiyut, said that he has received a report from the agencies under the Ministry of Labour or the five labour leaders, consisting of the Provincial Labour Office, the Provincial Employment Office, the Skills Development Office/Institute, the Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office, and the Provincial Social Security Office in the affected areas that they have gone to the area to deliver consumer goods, food, drinking water, relief bags, along with financial assistance from the families of workers in the name of the Ministry of Labour. They have already given them to the affected people, including labour graduates, labour volunteers, civil servants, employees, and officers from Yala, Narathiwat, Pattani, Songkhla, Satun, and Phatthalung provinces, to provide initial relief to the people. When the water level recedes, the Ministry of Labour will go in to help restore the situation, such as mobilizing a team of technicians to repair houses, electrical systems in homes, repair motorcycles, and small agricultural engines.
