On November 17, 2024, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, assigned the Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Siraphop Duangsodsri, to chair the announcement ceremony and present awards for the final round of the Toyota Customer Service Skills Competition 2024. The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Samaphat Pattamasukon, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour and Acting Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, Mr. Decha Phrukphatthanarak, the Ministry of Labour’s executives, the Deputy Governor of Chachoengsao Province, Mr. Prasit Intachoti, and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Chachoengsao Province joined in the event. The President of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., Mr. Noriaki Yamashita, and executives welcomed the guests at the Toyota Education and Training Center, Suwinthawong Road, Mueang Chachoengsao District, Chachoengsao Province.
The Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Siraphop Duangsodsri, said that today (November 17, 2024), the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, assigned him to chair the announcement and award ceremony of the Toyota Customer Service Skills Competition, Final Round, 2024. He commended Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., a major automobile manufacturer in Thailand, for recognizing the importance of continuous development of personnel skills, leading to the elevation of working skills and achieving standardization. He congratulated the winners of the competition for devoting their physical and mental strength, for practicing their skills, and for winning this prestigious award. All competitors have demonstrated their outstanding abilities. He encouraged participants to use their experience and knowledge gained from the competition to share and apply in their work. The competition is an activity that helps stimulate and encourage personnel to develop their skills and expertise in their work to be on par with international standards, resulting in continuous improvement in service quality. It is also an excellent example of raising the potential of Thai workers, which is in line with the plan to develop and increase workers’ skills standards to be internationally recognized. In addition, it is an activity that creates skilled workers in the automotive industry, which is a core industry of Thailand.
The President of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., Mr. Noriaki Yamashita, added that Toyota has organized this event for the 46th year. The Toyota executives recognize and place importance on the continuous development of skills of Toyota personnel. The company has organized nine categories of competition this time: 1) Advanced Technicians. (2) Fundamental Technicians. (3) Service Managers. (4) Spare Parts Staff. (5) Customer Relations Staff. (6) Call Center Staff. (7) Car Painters. (8) Car Body Repair Technicians, and (9) Body and Paint Managers. This category of automotive business operators has a high demand for technicians in this position. The competition will encourage them to develop their potential to a higher level and inspire new workers.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary of Labour and Acting Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, Mr. Decha Phrukphatthanarak, added that in the past, the Department of Skill Development has collaborated with Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. to develop automotive personnel to have skills that keep up with changes in modern technology, which is in demand by both domestic and international labour markets. In 2025, action plans will be put in place, such as organizing a 120-hour training course for car body and paint repair technicians, targeting 1,200 people. In addition, the company has collaborated with the Ubon Ratchathani Skill Development Institute 7 to organize training and testing of national labour skill standards in the field of car body and paint technicians, level 1, for another 150 people, including supporting experts to be subcommittee for the 30th National Skills Competition in March 2025. In the past, materials, tools, and equipment were supported for use in two skill competitions: automotive technology and car paint repair. Therefore, it is considered a good and long-standing partner of the department, helping to develop the workforce in the field of car body and paint repair technicians and other related fields to have quality workers.
