Training Curriculums Launched to Support Informal Workers

Content Description

The Ministry of Labour’s Inspector-General and spokesperson Mr. Ananchai Uthaipattanacheep spoke about the government’s policies for the second round of registrations for low-income workers, which will end this 15 May. The policy, initiated by Labour Minister General Sirichai Distakul aims at improving the quality of life for informal workers which are in the low-income group. The Department of Skills Development has been assigned to promote professional skills amongst the targeted group, whereby projects have been launched with 23 large companies which have provided support in various curriculum for informal workers who have registered as low-income persons, to promote employment opportunities and income.

The curriculums available for the targeted group will correspond with the labour market’s demands, which includes professions experiencing a shortage of workers such as cement workers, tilers, electricians and construction workers. The syllabuses will give free training and aim to train at 10,000 workers. Upon completion, the participants will receive a certificate which can be used when they apply for jobs. The Department of Employment will also register the list of participants at the Smart Job Center so that employers can access and view applicants’ qualifications. Those interested can get more information from the Department of Skills Development or training centers nationwide, call 02245-1707 or log onto the website at www.dsd.go.th.
