นายสุชาติ ชมกลิ่น รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน เปิดเผยว่า ตนได้รับรายงานจากสำนักงานจัดหางานจังหวัดอุดรธานีว่า เมื่อวันที่ 25 พฤษภาคมที่ผ่านมา นางอภิญญา โสภากุล ได้เดินทางมาแจ้งความที่สถานีตำรวจภูธรจังหวัดอุดรธานี ขอให้ช่วยเหลือลูกสาวที่ถูกกักขังในดูไบกลับประเทศไทย โดยเล่าว่าบุตรสาวชื่อ นางสาววนิดา โสภากุล อายุ 26 ปี ภูมิลำเนาอยู่จังหวัดอุดรธานี ได้ถูกนางสาวนุ่นชักชวนให้ไปทำงานนวดแผนโบราณที่เมืองดูไบ สาธารณรัฐอาหรับอิมิเรตส์ สัญญาจ้าง 1 ปี โดยอ้างว่ามีวีซ่าทำงานให้ ค่าบริการและค่าใช้จ่ายจำนวน 80,000 บาท จ่ายก่อนเพียง 15,000 บาท ส่วนที่เหลือนายจ้างจะเป็นคนรับผิดชอบค่าใช้จ่ายที่เกี่ยวข้องให้ทั้งหมดก่อน แล้วจะหักหนี้ในระหว่างการทำงาน จึงได้เดินทางไปที่ดูไบ ตั้งแต่วันที่ 19 มกราคม 2566 ที่ผ่านมา และได้ทำงานนวดแผนไทยจริง แต่หลังจากนั้นได้มีปัญหากับนายจ้างเรื่องหนี้สิน เนื่องจากนายจ้างแจ้งว่ายังคงมีหนี้สินค้างชำระอยู่ 80,000 บาท แต่นางสาววนิดาไม่ยินยอมและได้ทักท้วงไป นายจ้างจึงขายนางสาววนิดาไปยังสถานประกอบการแห่งอื่นเมื่อวันที่ 23 พฤษภาคม 2566 ซึ่งเป็นสถานที่ค้าขายประเวณี แต่นางสาววนิดาไม่ยินยอมที่จะทำงานดังกล่าว จึงถูกกักขังหน่วงเหนี่ยว ไม่สามารถออกไปไหนได้ พร้อมกับเพื่อนชาวไทยอีก 2-3 คน โดยเมื่อกลางดึกของคืนวันที่ 25 พฤษภาคมที่ผ่านมา นางสาววนิดาได้แชทขอความช่วยเหลือไปยังญาติในประเทศไทย
นายสุชาติ กล่าวเพิ่มเติมว่า ในส่วนการช่วยเหลือของกระทรวงแรงงาน ผมได้สั่งการให้นางปลิดา ร่วมคำ อัครราชทูตที่ปรึกษา(ฝ่ายแรงงาน) ประจำสถานเอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงอาบูดาบี สหรัฐอาหรับเอมิเรตส์ เร่งดำเนินการประสานงานหน่วยงานที่เกี่ยวข้องให้ความช่วยเหลือ “ฝากถึงพี่น้องแรงงานไทยที่กำลังหางานในต่างประเทศไม่ว่าประเทศใดก็ตาม ให้เดินทางไปทำงานตามกระบวนการที่ถูกต้องตามกฎหมาย หากถูกชักชวนทำงานผิดกฎหมาย การลักลอบเข้าประเทศ หรือไปทำงานต่างประเทศโดยไม่แจ้งการทำงาน ให้สันนิษฐานเป็นลำดับแรกว่าท่านกำลังถูกหลอกลวง และโปรดอย่าหลงเชื่อ” นายสุชาติ กล่าวทิ้งท้าย
The Labour Minister, Mr. Suchart Chomklin, said that he received a report from the Udon Thani Provincial Employment Office that on May 25, Mrs. Apinya Sopakul filed a complaint at the Udon Thani Provincial Police Station to help my daughter imprisoned in Dubai to support her return to Thailand. She said that her daughter’s name is Ms. Wanida Sopakul, 26 years old, and she is a resident of Udon Thani Province. She was coerced by Ms. Noon to work in traditional massage in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, under a 1-year contract. She had claimed to provide a work visa for service fees and expenses at 80,000 Baht, where only 15,000 Baht would need to be paid in advance, and the rest would be covered by the employer first, then expenses owed would be deducted during the work. Therefore, she traveled to Dubai on January 19, 2023, and worked in Thai massage. But after that, there was a problem with the employer about the debts owed as the employer informed that there were still outstanding expenses of 80,000 Baht. Ms. Wanida did not agree and protested. The employer then sold Ms. Wanida to another establishment on May 23, 2023, a place for prostitution. But Ms. Wanida did not agree to do such work. Therefore, she was imprisoned with 2 to 3 other Thai friends. In the middle of the night on May 25, Ms. Wanida asked for help from relatives in Thailand.
Mr. Suchart added that the Ministry of Labour instructed Mrs. Plida Ruamkham, Ambassador Counselor (on Labour) of the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, to work with relevant agencies to support the case. “I ask that all Thai workers looking for work abroad in any country travel to work according to the legal process. If coerced to work illegally, smuggled into the country to work, or going to work abroad without notification of work, please first assume that you are being deceived and do not be tricked,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
