เมื่อวันที่ 19 กุมภาพันธ์ 2567 เวลา 11.00 น. ตามเวลาท้องถิ่นออสเตรเลีย นายพิพัฒน์ รัชกิจประการ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน พร้อมด้วย นายสิรภพ ดวงสอดศรี ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงแรงงาน นายไพโรจน์ โชติกเสถียร ปลัดกระทรวงแรงงาน นายสมชาย มรกตศรีวรรณ อธิบดีกรมการจัดหางาน และคณะ หารือข้อราชการกับ ฮอน มาร์ค โมนาแกน (Hon Mark Monaghan) รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงศึกษาธิการ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงเหมืองแร่ และรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงธุรกิจการเกษตรและประมง เกี่ยวกับความเป็นไปได้ในการขยายตลาดแรงงานภาคเกษตรในประเทศไทยเข้ามาทำงานในออสเตรเลีย โดยได้รับทราบข้อมูลจากการพบหารือกับผู้ประกอบการของเมืองดาร์วินว่ามีความต้องการแรงงานในทุกภาคธุรกิจ โดยเฉพาะแรงงานภาคเกษตรที่ต้องการแรงงานในช่วงฤดูกาลเก็บเกี่ยวจำนวนมาก
นายพิพัฒน์ รัชกิจประการ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน กล่าวว่า การหารือในวันนี้ ได้ขอให้คุณ ฮอน มาร์ค โมนาแกน (Hon Mark Monaghan) พิจารณาประเด็นเกี่ยวกับทักษะด้านภาษาอังกฤษของแรงงานภาคเกษตร เนื่องจากผลจากการพบหารือผู้ประกอบการด้านเกษตร และประมงเมืองดาร์วิน ได้รับทราบข้อมูลว่าแรงงานที่มาทำงานภาคเกษตรและประมงไม่มีความจำเป็นจะต้องมีทักษะทางภาษาอังกฤษสูงเท่ากับแรงงานทักษะด้านอื่นๆ แต่อย่างไรก็ตาม แรงงานจะต้องมีความรู้เกี่ยวกับภาษาอังกฤษบ้าง เพื่อการรับทราบข้อมูลด้านความปลอดภัยหากเกิดเพลิงไหม้ หรือเหตุการณ์ฉุกเฉิน
ด้านคุณ ฮอน มาร์ค โมนาแกน (Hon Mark Monaghan) กล่าวว่า ขณะนี้ออสเตรเลียมีความต้องการแรงงานภาคเกษตรจำนวนมาก และจะนำประเด็นดังกล่าวไปหารือกับรัฐมนตรีหน่วยงานตรวจคนเข้าเมืองออสเตรเลียให้ช่วยผลักดันนโยบายการนำแรงงานไทยเข้ามาทำงานในภาคเกษตรในออสเตรเลีย ซึ่งข้อดีของการทำงานที่นี่คือ แรงงานไทยที่เข้ามาทำงานในนอร์ทเทิร์นทอรีจะมีความรู้สึกเหมือนทำงานในเมืองไทยเพราะสภาพภูมิอากาศใกล้เคียงกับเมืองไทย
On February 19, 2024, at 11.00 hours, Australian local time, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Siraphop Duangsodsri, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathien, and the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, and delegation, discussed government matters with Hon Mark Monaghan, Minister for Mining, Minister for Agribusiness and Fisheries, and Minister for Education, regarding the possibility of expanding the Thai agricultural labour market to work in Australia. They received information from meetings with business operators in Darwin. They learned that there is a need for workers in every business sector, especially agricultural workers, where demand is high during the harvest season.
The Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, said that in today’s discussion, he requested Hon Mark Monaghan to consider issues regarding the English language skills of agricultural workers. From discussions with agricultural and fishing business operators in Darwin, he learned that workers working in agriculture and fishing do not necessarily have as high English language skills as workers with other skills. However, the workers must have some knowledge of English to receive safety information in the event of a fire or emergency.
Hon Mark Monaghan said that Australia currently has a high demand for agricultural workers. He will discuss the issue with the Minister of Immigration in Australia to help push the policy of bringing Thai workers to work in the agricultural sector in Australia. The advantages of working here are that Thai workers who work in the Northern Territory will feel like they are working in Thailand because the climate is similar.
