วันที่ 12 กุมภาพันธ์ 2567 เวลา 11.00 น. นายพิพัฒน์ รัชกิจประการ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน เข้าพบหารือกับ ดร.แอนเจลา เจน แม็กดอนัลด์ (H.E.Dr.Angela Jane Macdonald) เอกอัครราชทูตเครือรัฐออสเตรเลียประจำประเทศไทย และคณะ เพื่อเยี่ยมคารวะและหารือข้อราชการด้านแรงงานในโอกาสที่รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน และคณะ มีกำหนดเดินทางไปเยือนเครือรัฐออสเตรเลียในระหว่างวันที่ 16 – 22 กุมภาพันธ์นี้ เพื่อพบปะผู้ประกอบการหารือแนวทางขยายตลาดแรงงานภาคเกษตรในออสเตรเลีย โดยมี นายไพโรจน์ โชติกเสถียร ปลัดกระทรวงแรงงาน นายสมชาย มรกตศรีวรรณ อธิบดีกรมการจัดหางาน เข้าร่วม ณ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตเครือรัฐออสเตรเลียประจำประเทศไทย
นายพิพัฒน์ กล่าวว่า ผมพร้อมด้วยผู้บริหารกระทรวงแรงงานขอขอบคุณท่านเอกอัครราชทูตเครือรัฐออสเตรเลียประจำประเทศไทยเป็นอย่างยิ่งที่ให้การต้อนรับเพื่อหารือด้านแรงงานในวันนี้ กระทรวงแรงงาน โดยกรมพัฒนาฝีมือแรงงานให้ความสำคัญกับการเตรียมความพร้อมด้านภาษาให้แก่แรงงานก่อนเดินทางไปทำงานต่างประเทศ ในส่วนของแรงงานไทยที่เดินทางไปทำงานในต่างประเทศ ส่วนใหญ่เป็นแรงงานที่เติบโตมาจากครอบครัวเกษตรกร ซึ่งคุ้นเคยกับการทำในสวนและในไร่เป็นอย่างดี และมักจะหาโอกาสในการไปทำงานต่างประเทศแบบฤดูกาลในช่วงที่ว่างเว้นจากฤดูกาลเก็บเกี่ยวในประเทศไทย จึงอยากให้รัฐบาลออสเตรเลียเปิดโอกาสให้แรงงานไทยที่ได้รับผลกระทบจากอิสราเอลได้ไปทำงานในออสเตรเลีย เนื่องจากแรงงานเหล่านี้เป็นแรงงานที่มีคุณภาพ สามารถทำงานเกษตรกรรมที่ใช้เทคโนโลยีทันสมัย และพร้อมที่จะพัฒนาทักษะด้านภาษาให้สอดคล้องกับเงื่อนไขที่ออสเตรเลียกำหนด สำหรับการเดินทางไปออสเตรเลียในครั้งนี้ ผมและคณะจะไปพบกับเจ้าของสวนผลไม้เชื้อสายไทยในเมืองดาร์วิน ซึ่งที่นี่มีความต้องการแรงงานในภารคเกษตรเป็นอย่างยิ่ง
“กระทรวงแรงงานขอขอบคุณท่านเอกอัครราชทูตเครือรัฐออสเตรเลียประจำประเทศไทย ที่ช่วยประสานงานกับทางการออสเตรเลียและอำนวยความสะดวกในการเดินทางไปเยือนเครือรัฐออสเตรเลียของผมและคณะในครั้งนี้ เพื่อเจรจาขยายตลาดแรงงานภาคเกษตร หวังว่ากระทรวงแรงงานและสถานทูตฯ จะร่วมทำงานสนับสนุนซึ่งกันและกัน โดยเฉพาะความร่วมมือในการส่งเสริมให้แรงงานของไทยได้ไปทำงานในออสเตรเลียเพิ่มมากขึ้น ซึ่งจะเกิดประโยชน์ต่อภาพรวมระบบเศรษฐกิจของทั้งสองประเทศต่อไป”นายพิพัฒน์ กล่าว
ด้าน ดร.แอนเจลา เจน แม็กดอนัลด์ (H.E.Dr.Angela Jane Macdonald) เอกอัครราชทูตเครือรัฐออสเตรเลียประจำประเทศไทย กล่าวว่า ขอขอบคุณท่านรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงานและคณะ ที่มาเยี่ยมเยียนและหารือในประเด็นความร่วมมือด้านแรงงานในวันนี้ ซึ่งทางการออสเตรเลียยินดีอย่างยิ่งที่จะทำงานร่วมมือกับรัฐบาลไทยและกระทรวงแรงงาน โดยเฉพาะความร่วมมือในการส่งเสริมให้แรงงานไทยได้ไปทำงานภาคเกษตรโดยเฉพาะแรงงานที่มาดูแลสวนมะม่วง รวมทั้งภาคเกษตรและอุตสาหกรรมอื่นๆ ที่มีความต้องการแรงงานเพิ่มมากขึ้น และการหารือในวันนี้จะนำไปสู่ความร่วมมืออย่างใกล้ชิดที่จะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการกระชับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างออสเตรเลียและไทยให้แน่นแฟ้นยิ่งขึ้นต่อไป
On February 12, 2024, at 11.00 hours, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, met with the Australian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Dr. Angela Jane Macdonald, and delegation, on a courtesy call and visit to discuss government matters regarding labour, as the Labour Minister and delegation are scheduled to visit Australia from February 16 to 22. They will meet with business operators to discuss ways to grow the agricultural labour market in Australia. The Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Phairoj Chotikasatian, and the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, joined the occasion at the Australian Embassy in Thailand.
Mr. Phiphat said that he and the Ministry of Labour’s executives thanked the Australian Ambassador to Thailand for the hospitality in discussing labour matters today. The Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development places importance on language preparation for workers before traveling to work abroad. For Thai workers traveling to work abroad, most of them are workers who grew up in farming families. They are very familiar with doing things in the garden and on the farm and often find opportunities to work abroad on a seasonal basis during their free time from the harvest season in Thailand. Therefore, he asked the Australian government to provide Thai workers affected by the situation in Israel an opportunity to work in Australia. These workers are quality workers who can work in agriculture using modern technology and are ready to develop language skills in line with Australia’s requirements. For this trip to Australia, the Labour Minister and delegation will meet with Thai fruit orchard owners in Darwin, where there is a great demand for workers in the agricultural sector.
“The Ministry of Labour thanks the Australian Ambassador to Thailand for helping to coordinate with the Australian authorities and facilitating me and my group’s upcoming visit to Australia to discuss the expansion of the agricultural labor market. We hope that the Ministry of Labour and the Embassy will work together to support each other, especially in promoting more Thai workers to work in Australia. This will benefit the overall economy of both countries,” Mr. Phiphat said.
The Australian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Dr. Angela Jane Macdonald, thanked the Labour Minister and delegation for the visit to discuss labour cooperation today. She said that the Australian authorities are pleased to work together with the Thai government and the Ministry of Labour, especially in promoting Thai workers to work in the agricultural sector, particularly workers taking care of mango orchards. Furthermore, the agricultural and other industrial sectors have an increasing demand for workers. Today’s discussions will lead to close cooperation that will benefit the further strengthening of relations between Australia and Thailand.
