เมื่อวันที่ 19 กุมภาพันธ์ 2567 เวลา 14.30 น. ตามเวลาท้องถิ่นออสเตรเลีย นายพิพัฒน์ รัชกิจประการ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงแรงงาน พร้อมด้วย นายสิรภพ ดวงสอดศรี ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงแรงงาน นายไพโรจน์ โชติกเสถียร ปลัดกระทรวงแรงงาน นายสมชาย มรกตศรีวรรณ อธิบดีกรมการจัดหางาน และคณะ หารือข้อราชการกับ ฮอน เอวา ลอว์เลอร์ (Hon Eva Lawler) หัวหน้าคณะรัฐมนตรี เหรัญญิก รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงโครงการสำคัญ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมกลาโหม รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมและการค้าและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการพัฒนาดินแดน เกี่ยวกับการขอให้ช่วยผลักดันนโยบายการนำแรงงานภาคเกษตรในประเทศไทยเข้ามาทำงานในออสเตรเลีย ซึ่งจากการหารือกับคุณตู่ เจ้าของสวนมะม่วงในดาร์วิน และผู้ประกอบการของเมืองดาร์วิน พบว่า มีความต้องการแรงงานในทุกภาคธุรกิจ โดยเฉพาะแรงงานภาคเกษตร
ด้าน คุณฮอน เอวา ลอว์เลอร์ (Hon Eva Lawler) กล่าวว่า ยินดีที่จะสนับสนุนความร่วมมือด้านแรงงานระหว่างไทยและออสเตรเลีย เนื่องจากรัฐนอร์ทเทิร์นเทอริทอรี เป็นรัฐที่มีประชากรจำนวนไม่มากนัก แต่มีผู้ประกอบการด้านการเกษตรจำนวนมาก ที่มีความต้องการแรงงาน โดยเฉพาะในฤดูเก็บเกี่ยว และจะนำประเด็นดังกล่าวไปหารือกับรัฐบาลกลาง โดยจะมีหนังสือหารือไปที่กระทรวงการต่างประเทศและกระทรวงด้านตรวจคนเข้าเมือง เพื่อเร่งพิจารณาต่อไป
ทั้งนี้ คุณสรามาศ ราชแก้ว (คุณตู่) เจ้าของสวน Tou’s Garden เสนอขอให้พิจารณาความเป็นไปได้ในการนำแรงงานไทยเข้ามาทำงานในสวนฯเป็นโครงการนำร่อง (Pilot Project) เนื่องจากคุณตู่จะสามารถดูแล ควบคุม แรงงานไทยที่เข้ามาทำงานในสวนได้
On February 19, 2024, at 14.30 hours, Australian local time, the Labour Minister, Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Assistant to the Labour Minister, Mr. Siraphop Duangsodsri, the Permanent Secretary of Labour, Mr. Phairoj Chotikasathien, and the Department of Employment’s Director-General, Mr. Somchai Morakotsriwan, and delegation, discussed government matters with Hon Eva Lawler, Minister for Major Projects, Minister for Defence Industries, Minister for Industry and Trade, and Minister for Territory Development, regarding the request to help to push forward the policy of bringing Thai agricultural workers to work in Australia. From a discussion with Khun Tou, the owner of a mango orchard in Darwin, and business operators in Darwin, they learned that there is a demand for workers in every business sector, especially for agricultural workers.
Hon Eva Lawler said that she was supportive of the labour cooperation between Thailand and Australia. The Northern Territory is a state with a small population, but there are many agricultural business operators with a demand for labour, especially during the harvest season. She said that she would discuss the issue with the central government and that a letter would be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Immigration for further consideration.
Khun Saramat Ratchakaew (Khun Tou), the owner of Tou’s Garden, proposed considering the possibility of bringing Thai workers to work on the farm as a pilot project as Khun Tou will be able to supervise and manage the Thai workers who can come to work in the farm.
